This the new flagship hair straightener from GHD. Launch price was £289, so not cheap.

The Chronos is very similar in looks to the slightly older Platinum Plus model.

There is a redesigned hinge, that feels very sturdy and is not at all floppy like the older Platinum Plus model was.

The redesigned hinge now sports an LED ring that lights up together with the On/Off button.

As always, the operating temperature is around 185 degs C. Although the GHD Chronos we purchased operated at 190 degs C.

There will usually be some variance in temperatures between irons, even of the same model and is nothing to be concerned about.

We also noted a nasty vibrating noise coming from the on/off button when the irons were turned on or off,

This was found to be due to the buzzer touching the on/off button plastic surround. A one off? Possibly, but I'm not convinced.

Currently available in Black or white but expect Limited Editions colours to appear possibly in the future.

Why "Chronos"? A good question.

quantitative time

The word “chronos” (you probably recognize this one as the root for the English words “chronological” and “chronicle”) refers to measured, ticking, quantitative time. Chronos is the forward propelling time that we measure with clocks, on watches, and by the evolutionary phases of the moon. But time does not end there.
