MS turning on and off

Postby MrTom » 13 Apr 2011, 09:21

Hi there

My GHD MS styler, I think its MK3, it does not have a sleep mode

It sometimes does not turn on and if a tap it a few times it will for a short time of use then goes off again

is this just a loose connection?

Tom

Hi Tom,

My guess would be that one of the wires to a heater element is coming off. Try gently pulling on the element wires and one of them will probably come off completely.

Replacement elements are available here:

This guide shows the replacement method:

Hi Gary

Apologies for the late reply iv been in hospital with broken bones lol

No wires seem loose but by resistor R16 just to the right there is a 1 cm sq of creamy white goo that doesn't look like it belongs, this is on the circuit board.

Well now I have no heat at all lol
I promise I have done nothing
I have a power tester screw driver which shows power on the brass colour back of the heating plates

Hi,

The white blob on the circuit board is normal.

Did you try pulling on the heater element wires to see if any wires came off? That would be my guess at the problem.

Gary
