Ghd 4.0 1 cold plate

Postby Paulkingleeds » 17 Oct 2013, 11:23

Hi I have a pair of 4.0 which had a faulty cable. Replaced cable replaced r8. Switch on and seemed fine until I noticed 1 cold plate. (Led did everything it should etc) I measured both heaters at around 72 ohm each while connected. Thermistor measuring correct but pretty loose though, everything else seems fine. Would loose thermistor cause one heater to not work? Or will heater be knackered? Thanks

Hi,
Switch side heater is broken, if your measuring heaters connected 35 ohms is 2 good heaters as they are connected in parallel.

cheers

Hi,

If the heater does not work then it is broken or intermittent. Did you disconnect the heater that is not working and measure it? If you get a measurement try gently pulling on the wires and see if you still get a measurement.

Hi,
It could be the heater interconnecting wire that runs from one board to the other but i have never known this, if you disconnect one heater and measure where you have disconnected you should read the 70 ohms of the other heater, if not you need to find out why.

cheers
Kev
