How long should GHD straighteners last?

There are no parts in GHD hair straighteners that really wear out - the ceramic plates are amazing and as long as you don't scratch them, they will last for decades. Therefore there is no hard and fast rule on how long they should last.

We've seen some of the original GHDs last well over 20 years with occasional maintenance in our workshop!

Some of the newer models have seemed to be a bit less robust than the older models as they use fancier technology (such as flexi rigid circuit boards for example) and therefore these irons can break a bit more easily. However the latest GHD Gold model seems to be doing quite well and can often be repaired.

So our recommendation would be don't assume they will wear out - whilst they are working for you, keep on using them. If they do fail, then consider getting them repaired, as there is nothing to wear out, so there is no disadvantage in getting them fixed. Obviously repair is a lot cheaper and reduces your electrical waste footprint!
