Can leaving a GHD Hair straightener on start a fire?

Whilst highly unlikely, it is possible. Especially if the irons develop a fault, have been repaired badly or are left touching something flamable

Many newer models of GHD have a sleep mode and will go to standby after 30 minutes or so.

As a general rule it is always best to never leave any small electrical appliance plugged in and switched on when unattended.

The video below shows a brand new one cup kettle just a few hours after plugging it in and going to bed.
