GHD SS
Quick Links for this model - Electrical Debugging Guide, Cable replacement
This model is based upon the MK3 GHD straighteners, but it has a wider heater plate. I've only seen them in black. "SS" stands for "Salon Stylers".
Like the Mk3's, this model suffers from heater element failures. The method for replacing the heater elements is very similar to the method for 3.1b's. Therefore the same how-to guide can be used.
I've also seen a couple of mysterious PCB failures on this model. Therefore if you've tested the cable, heaters and everything else looks ok, then I'd suggest trying to replace the PCB.
If the plates are falling out, then you probably need a new plate mounting part. A replacement guide for this part is available here. The replacement part is here. If that one is not in stock, then the SS2 equivalent is also compatible.
The procedure for replacing the mains cable is just the same as for the GHD 3.1b straighteners and therefore you can follow this guide. This model uses the standard GHD cable and new cables are available from the online shop.
