Heater Plates Hanging Loose

The plastic mounting parts that hold the heater plates in place can sometime be damaged by rough handling or ageing causing the plates to come loose from the arm. The worst case is that the heater plate ends up hanging out by the wires to the heater!

If this happens the best way to repair them is to replace the plastic mounting part. To do this you need to determine which mounting part you require:

We stock various mounting parts in our online shop. If the part you need is not available, then contact us and we can add you to a waiting list and you will be notified if the part you require becomes available.

Note that if a plate is hanging loose, you should be careful to make sure the weight of the plate hanging off does not tug on the heater wires - if the wires come off the heater element, then you'll need to replace the heater element as well!

A guide to replacing a heater plate mount is here. This is written for the GHD 3.1B model, however the method is the same for all GHD models.

Please note, irons should not be used in this condition. You are at risk of getting burnt from the loose ceramic plate and electrocution if the element wires become frayed.
