Overheating?

Hi Gary,
My problem is a bit self-diagnosed, but I've had my GHDs for probably five years now, and for the last few years they seem to have been drying my hair more than usual. Whenever I get my hair straightened at the hairdressers (with GHDs) my hair looks the way it used to with my own GHDs - shiny and soft. I know there's been the odd occasion over the years where I've accidentally left them on, so is it possible I've damaged the ceramic surface or done something to the whole "ion" technoolgy (of which my understanding is very limited!)? Hi Lizzie,

As long as the plates are not visibly worn, them I'm sure the ceramic surface is fine. As far as I know there is nothing particularly clever about the surface.

They could be running a bit hot however. There is a variable resistor on one of the PCB's inside which can be turned anticlockwise very slightly which will reduce their operating temperature.... you could give that a go.
